Why companies use ChinaTalentDesk
Working with someone in China, minus the parts that stop it
Find people you could not reach
The freelancers you need are on Chinese platforms and local networks you cannot search in English. Describe the work in your own words; AI search reads it and lists the profiles that fit, in English.
Pay the way you already pay
You pay our Hong Kong entity by card through Stripe or by wire to its Hong Kong bank account, like any supplier. Our mainland entity pays the freelancer in RMB and withholds their income tax.
Work across the language gap
Every brief has a Chinese version. Messages are translated both ways in the project room, with the original one click away, and meeting notes come in both languages.
Keep the work on the record
Scope, milestones, messages, deliverables and approvals stay in one place, attached to the contract. Nobody shares contact details before the contract is signed.
How hiring works
From a sentence to a signed contract
Describe the work
Write what you need in a few lines, or upload a spec. AI turns it into criteria and shows matching profiles: skills, experience, languages, availability and rate range.
Invite up to six to quote
Choose the profiles you like and invite them to your brief. They read it in Chinese and send a quote with milestones. Ask the desk if you would like a second opinion.
Sign, fund, approve
You, the freelancer and ChinaTalentDesk sign one contract. You pay each milestone before it starts, review the deliverable, and approve it. The freelancer is paid once you approve.
The contract
One contract, three signatures
Every hire is set out in one contract signed by you, the freelancer and ChinaTalentDesk. The freelancer commits to you on the work: the scope, the deliverables, confidentiality and the transfer of the intellectual property. Our Hong Kong entity invoices you and receives your payment; our mainland entity pays the freelancer.
- Each side sees only its own figures: your price, or the freelancer's pay
- Milestones with criteria you approve one at a time
- Confidentiality, IP transfer and non-circumvention in every contract
Where your money goes
Two entities. One clear path for every payment.
You never wire money to a stranger's personal account. You pay our Hong Kong entity, and our mainland entity pays the freelancer.
- Your currency
You

When you need more
Services from our team in China
The platform is enough for most projects. When it is not, our in-house team takes on part of the work. Each service is quoted before it starts.
Tailor-made search
The profile you need is not on the platform yet. Our team searches for it outside our network, vets the candidates and brings them onto the platform for you.
Account and project management
One of our account and project managers follows your project with you: progress, communication and reporting between your team and the freelancer.
Early payment of your freelancer
You pay on 30-day terms while your freelancer is paid as soon as you approve the work, for a financial cost stated before you choose it.
Bring your own freelancer
You already work with someone in China but cannot contract or pay them easily. We bring them onto the platform, and they are contracted and paid like any other freelancer here.
Candidate vetting
The desk assesses the freelancers who quoted on your brief and tells you who fits, before you choose.
Questions
What companies ask us
- Do we need a company or a bank account in China?
- No. You contract with ChinaTalentDesk and pay our Hong Kong entity. Our mainland entity contracts with the freelancer and pays them in RMB.
- How do we pay?
- By card through Stripe, or by wire to our Hong Kong bank account, in USD, EUR, GBP, SGD or HKD. Each milestone is invoiced before it starts.
- Who owns the work?
- The contract transfers to you the intellectual property in the deliverables, on the terms it sets out, and binds the freelancer to confidentiality.
- What if a freelancer does not deliver?
- You pay one milestone at a time, and the freelancer is paid only once you approve it. Raise the issue with the desk from the project room: the desk reviews the record, mediates, and can refund the milestone.
- Can we hire a freelancer directly?
- Tell the desk. A direct hire is possible on payment of the conversion fee set in your contract.
- What does it cost?
- A service fee on each milestone, shown on the proposal and the invoice before you pay. Services such as tailor-made search or account management are quoted separately.
